If you think about it as a formalized discusssion, more people have an easier time with facilitated discussions ("...I'll make up the rest") than learning formalized etiquette (debate, legal actions, conch passing, etc.). Add in what Mark is saying- it's definitely easier for people to consider motivation than narrative structure to figure out what happens. After all, in life, we have to deal with real people all the time and situations that arise out of motivations rather than narrative structures. |
